The level of arrogance that exists within Safa Western Cape should really be a cause for concern – as it is vile!
Needless to say, the lack of professionalism and respect, especially from the province’s secretary Nadia Konstabel, is not only unbefitting, but it raises serious questions about her integrity.
Because, to be in a position where she finds herself, one does not only have to be competent first and foremost, but one should also have to be cordial and, and more importantly, a level of respect – but this is non-existent.
It’s not just a shame but it’s a sad state of affairs.
This was quite clear when No Bones with Jones contacted Konstabel to enquire about the new ABC Motsepe League fixtures, which should include Santos as per the Arbitrator’s ruling on Monday, will be made known.
Remember, the Arbitrator clearly stated that the People’s Team must be reinstated with immediate effect!
“Don’t contact me or talk to me, go talk to the people that give you information and you can write what you want to write,” was Konstabel’s response to No Bones with Jones.
And excuse you too!
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, as the football fraternity operating in the ABC Motsepe League all had run-ins in the past and can testify what the modus operandi from the province really is – as they see and experience first-hand how toxic football has become under the current Safa WC administration.
Many club owners and administrators in the Western Cape have complained numerous times in the past that they just don’t have any luck communicating with Konstabel on basic fundamental issues, as she is selective about who she wants to communicate with and who gets preference – and in some instances she doesn’t respond at all.
And that’s exactly what No Bones with Jones experienced as well.
And let’s be frank, Konstabel’s attitude is of no benefit to football in the province and the broader landscape.
Now, football has enough prima donnas and the last thing the game needs is for someone who holds a key position like herself to dictate and decide the fate of clubs and football on an administrative level.
Alas! Hopefully, in due time things will change for the better as something has to give – somewhere, somehow!
The million dollar question is, why is the custodian of football, Safa National, not stepping in and pulling rank?
One would like to believe that they are living on the same planet as the rest of us to know about the shenanigans done by one of their affiliates.
Surely Safa National cannot forever sit back and allow the province to further drag their already tainted brand through the mud with continuous reputational damage because wreckless governance?
Another question that needs answering is, who the heck is paying for all this and where does the money come from if the football coffers are supposedly depleted?
There is no financial support for clubs but there is cash to splash on legal fees to justify and vindicate themselves?
Safa WC already sit with a hefty legal bill incurred after an Arbitrator ruled against them in their case against Santos FC – again, where does the funds come from?
Common guys, it’s time for a revolt and it’s no longer just about Santos, or the 14 Sasol League clubs, but it’s about the bullying, abuse of power and injustices done by the custodians who are supposed to work in the interest of their affiliates.
No one can deny that the beautiful game, that we all love so dear, is dying a slow death as it’s being ‘raped’ and ‘murdered’ right in front of our eyes!
The question is what are WE going to do?
