The Silver Spurs Veterans Festival is one sleep away from the official launch of this annual football spectacle.
The tournament director Victor Tajoodien confirmed that the event will take place on Thursday 10 October at Rylands Civic at 7pm sharp.
“Each team will have to send two representatives to this meeting. We will discuss rules and the format,” Tajoodien emphasized.
“This will be followed by some snacks and meeting up with old friends and rivals,” he added.
The popularity of the event for those players deemed ”over the hill” has grown tremendously over the years. But don’t be fooled, as some of the heroes of yesteryear got some serious kick left in them – they may have lost their pace but definitely not their competitive nature and spirit. – so sparks will again fly in all the divisions.
This year 24 over 35 teams (defending champion Kewtown FC, pictured), 18 over 40 teams (Hanover Park FC), 12 over 45 (Man City),12 over 50’s (West End) teams have entered the competition,” Tajoodien further explained.
“We have 10 new teams like Blue Bells and others entering for the first time. We also have our team from Worcester back, they just can’t stay away and I love it. Lekka boys!,” Tajoodien concluded,
