Santos’ Fortune can turn with ‘Jolly’ Roger

Roger Fortune will in all likelihood be calling the shots for a third consecutive season at Santos FC for their upcoming ABC Motsepe campaign.

Our website understands that Fortune is still locked in negotiations with his employer, Goolam Allie.

Allie has really found a gem in Fortune – for more reasons than one. Fortune’s credible and successful track record, coupled with his levelled headedness, makes him the perfect candidate to possibly get the People’s Team back on track to compete for honours again.

The former mentor of Young Pirates has in his first season, after following up from Abduraghman Jacobs halfway through the campaign, steered Santos to a fifth, followed by a third position last season.

Expectations are that Fortune, should he opt to take charge again, will want to give it a proper go this season by winning the stream and possibly promotion.

For this to happen Fortune will need the buy-in from Allie and the help of his check book.

Our website has also been informed that Fortune has already started with his recruitment process. “I believe there are a few players from Zizwe United that are coming for trials,” said a source close to Santos.

“I think this is an indication that Roger will probably be the coach in charge again. I think he is best suited for the job and with him they definitely have a fighting chance,” said the source.
