Seaside’s vision of PSL soccer in 2030 remains on course

The worst kept secret is out and it’s finally official!

This comes after Seaside Spurs confirmed their ABC Motsepe League acquisition of Antalyaspor JPM CT’s Second Division status while the latter now owns Seaside’s Third Division status.

The club’s chairman Earl Cloete (pictured right) stated that it was crazy the previous two weeks as things just happened so quickly.

“Look, we are still pinching ourselves about this as it has taken from the first engagement to the last literally nine days,” Cloete told No Bones with Jones. “Two Mondays ago when we woke up this wasn’t even on our minds as we were busy to go out and win the league (Third Division) as that was the objective – and then things happened, you. It is all in God’s time,” Cloete added.

“That is something that we remind ourselves of because if it wasn’t then this opportunity would not have presented itself. So we take and we know there is a lot of travelling involved but transportation is what our business is doing,” he added.

Seaside, who was only established two years ago, is without a doubt one of the most ambitious and progressive community clubs around. Cloete has in the past mentioned that they are aiming to be in the PSL BY 2030 – and given what they have accomplished in two years, it will be pretty foolish to bet against them making it to the top flight.

According to Cloete, who has also roped the former Bafana Bafana striker Gerald Stober (pictured left) as head coach last season, the time and platform was there for the taking in their quest to eventually win promotion to the top flight.

“We have two Hollywoobets teams (plus Ocean View FC) and we just felt like this could be the next step for kids in our community and naturally we can be a stepping stone for that. with our Motsepe franchise now.

“For the broader valley I was just telling our LFA as they were congratulating us not to discount their role because we needed to be in the right environment to strive and they created that for us to strive. Our project ultimately is for the greater Cape Town,” Cloete concluded.

Seaside’s first test is the defending Nedbank Regional Champion Maties FC coached by Desmond Crowie who will go up against a former teammate in Stober!
