The race for the hosting rights of the Engen Knockout Challenge finals is on!
This follows after Safa Cape Town sent out the applications recently with the list of criteria to its various LFA affiliates.
The hosting rights have been a contentious affair of late following the drama that played out at last year’s event between the sponsor and the custodians of football, the South African Football Association, whereby the Mother Body threatened to scrap the prestigious national under-18 event for boys and girls.
Luckily, sanity prevailed and the two parties could come to a compromise resulting in the go-ahead of the event.
But matters locally remained a hot topic of debate regarding the venue for the hosting of the event.
The region was then forced to have a fair and transparent bidding process – hence the recent criteria for the tender process.
In summary the tender process is open for all LFA’s that meet the criteria with their applications to be submitted by no later than Tuesday (23 April) before close of business at 16:00.
The much anticipated announcement will be made on Friday (26 April) – may the best candidate win!
Below are some of the requirements for the candidates interested in hosting the event.
