FC Hout Bay FC has apparently no less than four offers on the table for the possible purchase of their Third Division Status.
Despite this, the coastal club has recently appointed the former Jomos Power and Aberdeen man, Tom Tobi (pictured) as their new head coach for the 2023/24 season.
Tobi is of course no stranger to the club as he assisted Peter Kirsten last season.
Tobi has also worked with Kirsten’s predecessor, Bradley August, which was probably the reason why he was afforded the chance to take charge of the club.
It is fair to say that Tobi is very familiar with the set-up in Hout Bay and word from their camp is that he will definitely not cost them an arm and a leg.
Amidst Tobi’s appointment, two local parties from the area have shown their interest for the club’s Third Division-status. One of them being the owner of Shosholoza Football Academy, Richard Wilson.
There is also a possibility that some of the local businessmen could also pounce.
The remaining two potential buyers have requested that the deal be concluded in four days’ time. Things are in the balance at the moment, and it could go either way as money talks.
The management are split as some are keen to sell while others wanted to give it another go this season. On top of this half of their players have already sought greener pastures at Crystal Palace and Camps Bay.
A source close to FC Hout Bay said: “I’d like to say it’s tentative and it’s on ice. Indications are that we are not going to sell but then again you never know. Look, that is only my opinion,” the source concluded.
No bones with Jones understand that the club will convene on Monday (September 4th) to finalise matters.
