Unbeaten Rangers sets pace in ‘Stream of Death,’ Diadora FC boast with perfect record in Stream B

This might sound like the most obvious statement, but one cannot emphasise enough that the team that wins the ABC Motsepe League Western Cape playoff final, will definitely be worthy and well-deserved winners – and hopefully good enough to win promotion to the NFD this season as well as it’s long overdue.

The last side to do it was the late Bra Mike Lukhubeni’s Steenberg United in 2019

Perhaps one of the heavyweights in Stream A, like former champs, FN Rangers, the consistent and success-driven Vasco da Gama, last season’s stream winners and playoff finalists, Hanover Park, to name a few, could potentially be the one.

Throw in teams like Cape Town Spurs, Santos, Hope FC, Junction Rovers, Hout Bay United Football Club, Seaside Spurs, Ubuntu FC, to name a few – who can all on their day put any side to shame – then it further underlines how daunting Stream A really is.

A breakaway group has already emerged in this stream with Rangers (10 points) setting the pace after five rounds – and one round to play this coming weekend before the league goes into recess for the Festive break.

Vasco occupies the second spot on eight points along with Rangers, who are the only two unbeaten sides in Stream A, while Hope FC, Young Bafana and Hanover Park FC (all 7 points) are also flexing their muscles early with some consistent displays in recent weeks.

Although still early days, it appears as if Rangers have found their mojo once again and look good value for money heading into the Festive break.

Inter City, on the other hand, who are yet to record a win in Steam A, will have to do some soul searching during the upcoming Festive break as things will get more challenging going forward.

Meanwhile, in Stream B, table toppers Diadora FC just can’t stop winning, making it look so easy – hence they are firm favourites and genuine contenders to win their stream.

The Manenberg-based side annihilated Barcelona FC by 6-0 at the Greens Sports Complex in Manenberg on Friday.

All three teams, second placed Ammar, third placed Batalions and Grassy Parkk are locked on eight points and are actually still unbeaten along with pace setters Diadora (12 points) in Stream B.

Maties FC, on the other hand, have also registered their first win with a 1-0 victory over Nanini Na All Stars at the Lentelus Sports ground in Stellenbosch on Saturday, while Ikapa Sporting, Junction and Hout Bay United FC are struggling to stamp their respective authority on the stream.
