By the looks of it, Santa hasn’t brought Tankiso Modipa (pictured), president of Safa Western Cape, soccer brains for Xmas which is a damn shame as it spells more doom and gloom for football in the province!
Amidst all the ‘remedial engagements’ with the ABC Motsepe League clubs, it’s pretty clear that Santos FC is and will remain public enemy number one in the eyes of Safa Western Cape.
Recent developments include Safa WC’s meeting with all the teams last week, except The People’s Team to discuss its reinstatement into the league and the Nedbank Cup.
The only laughable aspect of it is the fact that Modipa is willing to now all of a sudden listen to the clubs in the league and their input (who, mind you, all agreed for Santos to be reinstated), while completely and blatantly undermining the award of an Arbitrator to have Santos reinstated.
Where is the common sense in Modipa’s behaviour? And why, for Heaven’s sake, does the province still not do the right thing as instructed by the Arbitrator’s ruling to reinstate Santos?
The recent communication from the province shows a lack of maturity and willingness, which further indicates its inability to once and for all solve this nagging issue for the betterment of football.
Let’s not forget the Mother Body’s fight with the Sasol League Ladies’ clubs, where the former also faces contempt of court charges!
Why would an entity that merely exists to administer a league want to use such drastic and excessive measures to nail its member clubs? Why? What’s lurking behind all this? So, to think Safa WC is there for football is a folly!
Furthermore, Safa WC then released the revised Nedbank Cup fixtures, which finally featured Santos. Does this really make sense? How can Safa WC not confirm that Santos is back in the league via a press release but then decide to officially reinstate them in the fixtures?
Needless to say, these clubs have now been disadvantaged with the games now scheduled for more than 400 km away from its initial venue as per the original fixture. Should the status quo not have remained the same? Once again one can clearly gather how the province still tries to subtly bully and abuse Santos going forward.
Are these actions and governance of an individiual that really cares about the growth and development of football?
Also, when is this going to stop as it is destroying the beautiful game? Just look at the Sasol Ladies’ teams.
Many of the girls have lost the love and desire for the game and that is all on the province. Football cannot be run by individuals who work at all cost to promote the game in certain regions only to kill it in another!
So, for the Safa WC boss, Modipa, to proclaim he has done wonders for football, he should have a long look at his track record as football boss of the province, then he’ll vouch as well that he should be ashamed of himself -no wonder Sants decided to bypass Modipa this year and he wasn’t a good boy at all!
But as long as Modipa is sucking up to his very own Santa in the Safa National boss, Danny Jordaan, and dancing to his tune, he’ll be allowed to get what he wants which is to further destroy the beautiful game!
