Bayhill mum on R45 000 released by Mitchells Plain LFA

Gilbert Kruger, president of the Mitchell Plain LFA (MPLFA), has confirmed that all ‘outstanding monies’ have been paid out to the Bayhill United club as per instruction from Safa Cape Town.

According to Kruger the MPLFA recently released the R45 000 to Bayhill that was in their trust fund for almost three years.

This was proceeds from the tournament that the host club of the Easter Tournament could not give account for.

The MPLFA boss confirmed to No Bones with Jones that they were informed by the Mother Body to release the funds on condition.

“The president of Safa CT (Bennett Bailey) instructed me to release the funds on the basis that they (Bayhill) take full responsibility – which I did,” Kruger explained to our website.

“We have drafted a letter and copied Safa CT in in which we stated that we have released the funds with conditions that should there be any repercussions in whichever way, they must take full responsibility for the matter concerned and with confirmation that the money was released to them – I stepped out of the situation.

“You must remember this was put in our court and it seemed like the MPLFA or Gilbert Kruger didn’t want to release the monies, hence the reason I put pressure on them (Bayhill) because there were no correspondences coming through,” Kruger added.

No Bones with Jones contacted Bayhill’s chairman John Rangolie (pictured) for confirmation to which he replied: “Meneer, hoekom vra jy my nou die? (Sir, why are you asking me this now?). I will get back to you.”

Meanwhile, the club’s treasurer Shawaan Daniels has referred the matter to the club’s secretary (Latief Feder).

“Anything with regards to the club you need to contact our secretary or you can speak to the chairperson John Rangolie,” said Daniels.

Upon informing Daniels that our website has already reached out to Rangolie but without any luck, Daniels replied. “I must check the club’s account if it is there.”

The irony to Bayhill’s financial affairs is that last year they had to relinquish their base, the Rocklands Legacy Fields, due to not paying their rent which amount to in the region of R80 000.

The venue, which was seen as a beacon of reward for the more than 30 years of success of the Bayhill Premier Cup, has now been taken over by the newcomer in Mitchells Plain football, Yaknocka FC, as Bayhill was kicked out due to non-payment of their rent.
