First a hefty fine, then docked points, what next for Wanie’s team(s)?

The superstitious type believes that bad things happen in threes.

Well, whatever view Hanover Park’s chairman Rieduwaan Anthony holds regarding superstition, it is safe to say he will probably have a more cautious and vigilant approach as to what lies ahead relating to football matters.

This follows after Anthony suffered two setbacks within a space of a week.

First, his ABC Motsepe League outfit Hanover Park FC was slapped with a R20 000 fine last week after they were found guilty on two charges, an attack from one of its members on an opposition player and inadequate security.

Then Hanover Park FC’s mother club in the Hollywoodbets Third Division, Premier United, were dealt a blow after Safa Cape Town released their weekly correspondence regarding the fixtures, results, logs, goal scorers, etc.

On the last document right at the bottom of the page, it was noted that Wanie’s Hollywoodbets outfit was docked six points for fielding an ineligible player.

No Bones with Jones can confirm that the experienced Fernel Abrahams is the player in contention.

Premier United fielded Abrahams in two matches against Goal50 United and Crystal Palace while he was still under suspension.

This resulted in Premier, who was 9th on log with 18 points prior to the punishment, to drop down to the 14th position with 12 points – four points off the drop zone.

How a chairman of Anthony’s calibre, who has seen it all in football, could allow his clubs to make such a rookie error is unbelievable.

The jury is already out as to what lies next in store for the Cape Town Tygerberg LFA club Hanover Park FC and Premier who ply their trade at the Hanover Park LFA.

Premier welcomes Woodlands to the Downberg Road Sports Field on Friday while Hanover Park, who were humbled 4-1 last week by Junction Rovers, welcome Royal Blues to their home ground a day later – don’t be surprised if lighting strikes a third time in some way or the other.

Rest assured that the superstitious type will be the very first to remind and say: “I told you so!”
