So far, so good…. and without jumping the gun Edgemead FC’s ‘new’ head coaches Robbie Cameron (pictured right) and his co-coach Sergio Barreiro (pictured left) seems to be Taylor-made for the clubs first team based on their results thus far.
The defending champions played four matches, won three and lost one in the tough and competitive Cape Town Tygerberg League under the tutelage of Cameron and Barreiro.
The club’s chairman Tim Taylor revealed the reasons as to why he recently appointed the duo to take charge of their first team following the departure of Zane Ryklief.
Edgemead released Ryklief last month after only two months in charge of the senior outfit.
”We’ve stayed in-house as we have our second side’s pairing of Robbie Cameron and Sergio Barreiro who have been with the second team for the last three years,” Taylor explained to No Bones with Jones.
”They have learnt a lot from the previous coaches. We have been looking (outside) but it has just been a seamless transition between them coaching the first and the second teams.
”The players respect them as they bring out the best out of the players. The sessions are amazing, so ja… we are looking forward to the season,” Taylor concluded.
