It is high-time for the Cape District Football Association (CDFA) to cut its losses and smoke the peace pipe with Safa Cape Town.
Further delay in rebuilding this historic institution could see more clubs leaving following the exit of Stephanian Ottery and Garlandale FC and rumours that more clubs want to depart, are rife!
Furthermore, the LFA’s delay to the official start of the LFA season underlines the lack of leadership and disarray at the organisation.
The once busiest football venue is indeed under threat of under usage which could result in this iconic William Herbert Sports Complex, situated on prime property, becoming the target of eagle-eyed developers.
This comes after the latest blow to hit the already disgraced LFA after they have been found guilty and slapped with a R30 000 penalty.
These were some of the findings by the Chairperson – Adv Anzel Laubscher, accompanied by Zolani Malibeni and Monray Polma (both panel members) during a recent hearing held at the Rygersdal Football Club in Rondebosch.
In attendance were Safa CT Prosecutor, Ghomade Ebrahim and Greschen Jaftha and representing CDFA were Brandell Turner (Attorney), supported by Nathan Less and Grant Peters.
The CDFA had no objection to Monray Polman being part of the panel, and neither party objected to the Hearing being recorded. CDFA did also not Appeal to the previous sanctions of Ivan Williams and Wayne Jones. The charges were read out – to which CDFA pleaded Not Guilty.
According to Turner Safa CT’s case is built on the following allegations:
* that CDFA`s delegates disrupted and caused the meeting to collapse;
* that CDFA did not cooperate by refusing to comply and submitting sought after information;
* that CDFA violated their suspension when they engaged and convened meetings.
CDFA moved that they don’t see the relevance of this case being heard as per the norm. They are more than happy to argue their case in writing; Safa CT agreed to this request.
This coupled with the fact that Santos FC chairman Goolam Allie has in the interim also taken the region to court regarding their registration of his players for the Trinitarians FC under-14 Easter Tournament held at the Symphony Park Sport Field in Belhar over the Easter Weekend.
Needless to say the CDFA ‘cleverly’ snuck in an application to have their administration lifted. So, without going into too much detail, when it comes to these two entities it is like oil and water, it doesn’t matter which way one looks at it.
To those who have followed the case and are keeping tabs on the drama between the CDFA and Safa Cape Town, you will agree their actions are undoubtedly detrimental to the game and it is high time for both parties to move on and bury the hatchet – irrespective of who is right and who is wrong.
It’s been one (legal) blow after the other with some punches thrown more out of arrogance and ignorance than really for the greater good.

Our girls just want to play football and this arguing over stuff that has nothing to do with the game is petty to say the least.
