Silver Spurs should be serious about its coaching situation this season

Many will agree that Silver Spurs FC’s experiment with a co-coach approach last season was a major flop.

Some will even go as far as saying that their 6th position finish with Mario Tito and Franklin Davies both in charge is a major disappointment – given their runner-up finish a season prior under Cheslyn “Giggs” Tajoodien.

However, the flipside to this is that Spurs have been bleeding some young talent and these boys have now gained valuable experience with a competitive season under the belt – it’s about growth and maturity, on and off the field.

This brings me to my actual concern of who will be at the helm of the Silvertown-based club come the start of the pre-season?

Remember, this is a club that is desperate to win promotion as they are probably the longest serving club in the Third Division.

There was an expectation that with Davies, who left for a move to Downberg Road, that Tito would automatically carry on solo. This notion is thrown into contention following the appointment of the Cape football legend Keith America.

America, who offers coaching clinics at the Fives’ courts at Spurs’ Johnson Road Sports Complex in Rylands confirmed that he is only assisting with the Premier outfit which is currently unbeaten.

So, Spurs are possibly yet again faced with a dilemma if they do not act more decisive this time around by being more decisive – hopefully this time round it will be based on what will be best for the team – and not for the sake of peace and keeping everyone happy!
