SAFA Cape Town’s request for an extension to the player transfer window has been approved, providing much-needed relief to clubs affected by the ongoing Third Division Playoffs.
The decision comes after concerns were raised that several clubs affiliated to Safa Cape Town and Safa Western Cape would be unable to register players before the original transfer deadline due to their continued participation in the playoff competition.
It is understood that the National Competitions Manager has approved an extension of the registration window from 1 November 2026 to 6 November 2026, ensuring that affected clubs will have an additional opportunity to finalise player registrations once the playoffs have concluded.
The move follows a scheduling clash which saw the Third Division Playoffs reach their quarter-final and semi-final stages only days before the transfer window was due to close, leaving clubs facing the prospect of missing the deadline through circumstances beyond their control.
The National Competitions Manager has further advised that instructions will be issued to Inqaku (MYSAFA) to implement the extension and facilitate the registration process during the newly approved period.
