From promotion hero to cup-winning coach, Dylan Deane continues to enhance his reputation as one of local football’s hottest tacticians.
The One Football Club mentor was celebrating again this weekend past after his side claimed the ABC Motsepe League Nedbank Cup regional crown after they defeated Ammar Soccer Academy 3-1 (0-0) on penalties over the weekend.
No Bones with Jones reached out to Deane and the club’s hierarchy, however, they opted not to engage – fair enough!
The triumph now sets up another intriguing challenge for Deane and his charges. One FC will face the winner of the Third Division play-offs, where champions from the six regions will battle it out for the remaining spot.
The reward is substantial. Victory would secure progression to the Nedbank Cup Last 32, where the ambitious newcomers could find themselves drawn against a Premier Soccer League outfit.
Given Deane’s recent track record, few would bet against him adding another chapter to what is fast becoming a remarkable journey.
