The drama surrounding former Safa Cape Town treasurer Sadick Williams has taken another twist after it was confirmed that the regional body has suspended one of its former senior office bearers.
Mitchell’s Plain LFA president Ricky Meyer confirmed the development to No Bones with Jones.
“Yes, Safa CT suspended him,” Meyer said in a WhatsApp message.
No Bones with Jones also approached the region’s secretary Reyaad Joseph for comment. However, true to form, Joseph declined the opportunity to respond.
The suspension comes just weeks after Williams sent shockwaves through local football circles by tendering his resignation, citing concerns around governance among the key reasons behind his departure.
For many observers, the latest development will come as little surprise.
Williams’ public exit and outspoken criticism of the region’s administration appeared to place him on a collision course with the Safa CT, an organisation whose critics have long accused it of being intolerant of dissenting voices.
Now, with Williams officially suspended, fresh questions are being raised about what lies behind the decision and whether his resignation and subsequent allegations played a role in the outcome.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the fallout is far from over.
“This is going to get really ugly. A lot more will be revealed during this ordeal,” the insider told No Bones with Jones.
As the controversy deepens, all eyes will now be on the mother body and what further revelations may emerge in the coming weeks. Yet one question continues to hang over the matter:
Whether Safa Cape Town’s decision is rooted in disciplinary procedure or something else entirely remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that the Williams saga is far from over.
