Former Bafana Bafana player Elton Meiring has lost his life in another senseless act of violence.
The 48-year Cape Town-born Meiring passed on yesterday morning after he was allegedly stabbed to death by a tenant who rented the separate entrance at Meiring’s property in Johannesburg.
No Bones with Jones was informed that Meiring was on his way to church when the incident happened. According to our source, Meiring had requested that his attacker turn down the volume as the music was too loud. There is also alleged talks that the tenant was in areas and Meiring had confronted him.
One thing led to another and the former Mamelodi Sundowns player was subsequently stabbed to death.
Further details are still sketchy at this stage but tributes have started pouring in for Meiring who’s career spanned over 20 years for 10 different clubs, including Hellenic, Jomo Cosmos and Amazulu amongst others.
The centre forward made three appearances for Bafana Bafana.
