It has come to light that Safa Cape Town has finally decided to act and is busy launching its own investigation following the ridiculously high scores recorded at the Third Division Playoffs at The Greens in Manenberg on Sunday.
Young Idols of Manenberg beat Lansur United of Hanover Park 21-0, while Atlantis Leeds destroyed Cape Town Celtics of Bloekombos by 20-1 in matches that have tongues wagging and bringing back memories of two years ago when similar results shocked local football.
No Bones with Jones can confirm that the region has summoned Atlantis Leeds to the Turfhall Sports Complex on Thursday (20:00) to explain their version of events.
Our website understands that Leeds’ manager, coach and captain, will be given the third degree to get to the bottom of the story.
There are many rumours going around about match fixing, but that is now for the Mother body to decide and hopefully this time the region will actually hold the fraudsters accountable for allegedly bringing the game into disrepute.
Unlike last season where an investigation was launched, and even a high-profile legal eagle in Sean Lea was appointed to get to the bottom of the story and to make recommendations on the way forward.
But the guilty party was never punished.
Hence, it definitely feels like deja-vu of last season when similar scenarios played out at the William Herbert Sports Complex where an unbelievable 58 goals were scored in two matches in Group H, which included Two For Joy, West Coast, Electric City and Diadora FC.
