Given the current alleged unscrupulous dealings of the Safa Cape Town president, Bennett Bailey, especially in light of the legal battle between Safa CT and Sport Stepping Stones Foundation (SSS) regarding the missing Palestine funds, was further exposed by crime-fighter Hanif Loonat in a recent phone call with Bailey on Monday.
Bearing in mind, Loonat was also present at the meeting held at the Rondebosch golf course leading up to the Football for Humanity initiative as he represented the interest of Palestinian cause as well as that of the SSS – while Bailey on the other hand, who were also in attendance, represented the Cape’s football Mother body along with his administration head, Greschen Jaftha, who had to record the event.
However, no report was tabled to date presumably on Bailey’s instructions. Similarly, Greschen should have minutes and attendance registers of all the project meetings hence Loonat keeps asking for the report which is blatantly ignored by the region.,
Alas! Here’s the thing, Jaftha can actually be subpoenaed and lying under oath could lead to serious perjury charges which is a criminal offense – One is sure she will not be going down that route for someone that has recently tied the knot and is still in the so-called honeymoon phase.
Another questionable occurrence by Bailey, was when he captured the electoral committee by having a meeting two hours prior with them and instructing them who to vote for. Can you imagine what another four years under Bennett would be like?
Is Bailey not already satisfied with his position on the various committees such as FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee for the 2025–2029 term. Or is the SASCOC Judicial Body, where he is still serving, not gratifying enough? What about his current vice-president position at the Cape Town Sports Council? Not to mention his VP post at Safa National?
This is subsequent to his tenures at Softball SA where he was an Exco member from 1994, and the VP post of CT Softball he held from 2015 – 2018, as well as the secretary position at Athletics SA from 1994 – 2000. Then there’s also the NSC and DCAS.
To be goal driven and ambitious is one thing, but to be power obsessed and consumed is another. I mean, really now. How on earth does one – that really wants to make a difference – do justice to these portfolios?
Furthermore, what legacy does he leave behind? – if any for that matter!
Meanwhile, Bailey’s boss as Safa national, Danny Jordaan, is seeking a fourth term and one wonders why…with a fraud charge hanging over his head. Jordaan even restructured the NEC to give him the numbers. Safa national NEC has not been able to have a meeting on the last two occasions, and one wonders why?
Apparently they are trying to get a motion of no confidence that opposes Jordaan…could this be fears of what he is allegedly hiding may be exposed? The draft financials of Safa national indicate a provision of R15 million for Honoria.
This is seriously food for thought as Safa national appears to be cash strapped – or is it only when it suits them?
