It’s all ‘hush-hush’ for Hope and Hare as hunt for new coach continues

Hope FC’s hush-hush around the announcement of their new coach is understandable due to the sensitivity of the matter.

That said, the Motsepe Foundation Championship newbie, has already played its hand when it axed the club’s very first coach, Dylan Deane which sent shockwaves through the football fraternity.

This bombshell came as a massive surprise, and this was admitted by Deane in his press statement recently.

What’s interesting is that Clayton Daniels, Deane’s assistant coach who also featured in defence this season, is still featuring prominently in the club’s activities.

Daniels was part of Hope’s crew that was honoured by the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport for the Western Cape, Ricardo McKenzie, for their historical achievement in their debut season.

One can deduce that Daniels will probably be given the nod for now, but the fact that a Caf B Licence is needed to coach at this level could be a problem. Daniels only has a Caf C Licence.

This is probably where either Shaun Bartlett or Vasili Manousakis comes in. The latter is currently assistant to Benni McCarthy, who is in charge of the Kenyan Men’s National Team.

Manousakis’ connection with Hope comes in the form of the club’s chairman, Keagan Buchanan, who played under Manousakis at AmaZulu.

This is possibly how things could unfold in due time, should all go to plan for Manousakis with his relocation back to Cape Town.
