Since Young Bafana pulled off a surprise after they conquered the ABC Motsepe League in 2023, they have been rather disappointing and barely saved their Second Division status in the recent past.
But there is perhaps a possible prognosis for this… Young Bafana’s inconsistency with their coaches. I mean, something like fives coaches in only a handful of season speaks to where they fall short.
From Carlos Manual to Bradley Barnes, followed by Siza Gola and Msekeli Mvalo. No one really settled but it’s perhaps because they were found wanting.
Be that as it may, No Bones with Jones can confirm that another name, in the form of their new head coach, Rezaan Jacobs, has been acquired to stabilise and bring back some credibility to the club’s senior side.
it’s also expected that Jacobs will have some input with the academy players as well due to his expertise with youth development as well – honestly speaking, Jacobs could be the breath of fresh air much needed in Strand where Bafana’s headquarters is.
Needless to say, Jacobs’ appointment is well deserved and hats off to Bafana’s co-owner Bernardo Steinado for his trust and confidence to bring in Jacobs who also holds a Caf B-licence and operates like a silent assassin.
The 41-year-old Jacobs is also well-travelled but more importantly, a coach driven by success. His name is etched in the history books of clubs like Grassy Park United after he guided them to Bayhill Premier Cup glory a few seasons ago – not forgetting the Coke Cup success with Bayview FC’s under18’s a couple of years prior.
Jacobs was also previously in charge of Bayhill United’s u19’s for the Bayhill Easter Spectacle in April this year. Now, one expects Bafana to now allow Jacobs the time to do what he was hired for. And who knows, Jacobs could be that one that turn around the fortunes of the former champion.
