Newly appointed Wynberg Boys’ High School Director of Soccer, Dayle Solomon, says he is relishing the opportunity to elevate the school’s football programme and help aspiring young players achieve their dreams.
The current Cape Town City FC assistant coach and Head of Performance Analysis was recently unveiled by the school, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience in the professional game.
“I am ambitious and want to add value to the sport wherever I can,” Solomon told No Bones with Jones. “Wynberg Boys High School has given me the opportunity to contribute to the current project and, hopefully, we can continue to raise the level, promote excellence and build an elite programme that gives these athletes a fair opportunity to reach their dreams.
“I have worked across multiple teams and have a good idea of what it takes to be elite. I am looking forward to starting this project.”
Solomon arrives at Wynberg with an impressive football résumé spanning 18 years, including coaching and performance analysis roles at Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, the Zambian national team and Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah FC.
A UEFA B and CAF B licensed coach, the 36-year-old was part of one of the most successful periods in Sundowns’ history, contributing to four Premier Soccer League title-winning campaigns.
Wynberg Boys believes the appointment represents a major investment in the future of its football programme, with Solomon tasked with strengthening player development structures and creating pathways for talented youngsters to progress in the game.
Headmaster Deon Scheepers said the appointment reflects the school’s commitment to becoming one of South Africa’s leading schoolboy football institutions.
“His appointment signals the school’s intent to further establish itself as a leading force in schoolboy football,” said Scheepers. “By leveraging Dayle’s elite-level experience, we are confident that he will help shape the next generation of players and further strengthen the football culture at Wynberg Boys’ High.”
With extensive experience across South Africa, Africa and the Middle East, Solomon’s arrival is a significant statement of intent from Wynberg Boys’ High as the school looks to build an elite football programme capable of producing the stars of tomorrow.
