Anita and co going the extra Mile(s) to ensure that the “B-tournament” gets another A-plus review

Despite recent successes, Camps Bay FC is certainly not resting on their laurels.

The Cape Town Tygerberg LFA club is yet again on a mission to bridge the gap and to ensure that the beautiful game is more inclusive and accessible for all young footballers, male and female, with the upcoming “B-Team” tournament.

The event, which caters for boys from u7, u8, u9, u10 and u12 as well as girls (u14 and u16 teams), will take place at The Meadway in Camps Bay from 29-31 May.

Needless to say, this initiative was a huge success last year, hence it was added to the football calendar once again – this time under the watchful eye of the club’s new Technical Director, Boebie Solomons (pictured right) who set the bar high.

“The positive feedback from clubs, players, and parents confirmed just how important and impactful this initiative is,” the club’s junior chairperson, Anita Miles (pictured left) said to No Bones with Jones“With the passion we see, especially starting from our U7 players and all the new talent coming through, we knew this was something worth growing,” she added.

Miles along with her team members has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything is in place. She explained the rationale behind the tournament.

“As we all know, A-teams are usually the ones selected for most tournaments. We felt it was time to create something special for the players who don’t always get that opportunity – the B-team players,” Miles further explained.

“This tournament is for the kids who may not have made the A-team, but who love the game just as much. It’s for those who simply want to be on the field, enjoy their football, and be part of something meaningful – regardless of results.

The B-team tournament is here to stay, and we’re proud to see it becoming one of Camps Bay’s flagship tournaments going forward,” Miles concluded.
