The excitement and optimism at the Hollywoodbets Third Division newcomer YMO St. Lukes is tangible.
This was quite evident during No Bones with Jones‘ visit to YMO’s base in Walmer Estate where the juniors were in action on Friday evening.
The owner Mark Slingers (pictured) was barking out orders and applauding every tackle from the touchline.
“This is my under12’s and my laaties I’m grooming,” Slingers told No Bones with Jones.
“They are the future,” he added.
Singers made headlines in recent weeks following his acquisition of Crystal Palace’s Third Division status
Our website understands that there was an initial push for the ABC Motsepe League status of Antalyaspor but it was decided against it and to “start from the bottom.”
Needless to say, YMO already has an advantage over most of their rivals in the cutthroat league as they have what many do not have – their own base and facilities which is a big plus as it makes getting any project off the ground just way more bearable as the demands are hectic – not to mention the financial aspect.
The club’s soon-to-be unveiled new coach Franklyn Davies has been tasked with ensuring that the club compete against seasoned campaigners which will be easier said than done.
The former Silver Spurs and Hanover Park FC assistant, Davies, has used his influence and experience to lure some big guns in former Silver Spurs striker Rushan Abrahams, along with Keenen Arendse, Revano Swartz, Tahir Domingo, Jaden Adams, Veron Smith and Nino Petersen. They will all be unveiled in the coming days.
It is pretty clear that Slingers, who has been with the club for more than four decades, has big dreams and ambitions as he pointed out the objectives for the new season.
“We are going for a top four and that’s our objective,” Slingers stated. “I think it is doable, but it will be a collective effort,” Slingers added.
