While the Cape Football public is anxiously waiting on the verdict of Adv. Sithembiso Mdladla, Wanderers FC Chairman Eric Gum has broken his silence on how things transpired at Safa Cape Town’s AGM at the University of the Western Cape in Bellville on Sunday.
Gum, who has made himself available to run against Bennett Bailey for the Safa CT presidency, said he was deeply saddened by the “classless” conduct and behaviour of Bailey, which left a lot to be desired.
Bailey was allegedly on the ‘attack’, trying to impose himself on Gum, who under no circumstances buckled throughout his counterpart’s tirade.
“And all of this in front of his executive members, who all witnessed their leader in action, can you believe it.”Gum revealed to No Bones with Jones. “I was taken aback a bit as I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing, you know.
“In fact, the members were so disgusted, that quite a few of them called me after the meeting to apologise on his behalf, saying that I did not deserve treatment like that, or anyone for that matter. ” Gum added.
The big announcement will be made today by Adv. Sthembiso Mdladla regarding the elections after the initial electoral committee was found to be flawed and the region has agreed they dropped the ball yet again.
There will be an appointment of a new Electoral Committee and elections in two months’ time.
