It could be “Walala Wasala” if Camps Bay dilly-dally too long on Salie’s capture

Camps Bay FC should not dilly-dally too long to acquire the services of the experienced goalkeeper, Tawfeeq Salie (pictured).

No Bones with Jones can confirm that the former Maritzburg United and Cape Umoya player has been training with the ‘Beach Boys’ – as Camps Bay are known – on a couple of occasions with the hope of signing a reasonable contract.

Our website understands that the club’s management is still contemplating if they should sign the former National U. 20 goalkeeper who undeniably comes with a wealth of (Premier Soccer League) experience.

Given what Camps Bay currently has at its disposal, with all due respect, Salie’s capture should actually be a no-brainer taking into account that the club’s primary objective is to retain its status in the debut season in the Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign of Safa Cape Town.

Needless to say, the 31-year-old shot-stopper will definitely provide the necessary stability and calmness in the last line of defence for the newbie.

It is also no secret that Charra, as Salie is known, was lured by his former Young Bafana coaches, Dougie Williams and Ashraf Calvert, with whom he won a double – the ABC Motsepe League and the Nedbank Cup regional title with Clarewood JPM last season.

Our website also understands that Zairon Abrahams could also be lured to the Atlantic Seaboard but this potential move also hinges on the fact that the club must be willing to scratch deep in its pockets.

The 26-year-old Abrahams himself is an experienced and well-travelled winger that could sharpen Camps Bay’s attack.

The club better hope that the Zulu-saying “walala wasala” (You snooze, you lose) does not haunt them come the end of the season especially if they want to protect their long-term investment – hence, spending a little bit of money here and there should not be seen an obstacle.
