Lack of skills could see Safa CT’s Ian sent Pak-ing: Marwaan waiting in wings

With the dust just about settled and the ‘praises’ still being sung on the successes of the Football 4 Humanity soccer spectacle at the Athlone Stadium, don’t be surprised if a reshuffle at Safa Cape Town takes place as a result of this event.

A couple of key positions in the organisation could be filled with new faces as ”the old guard” is forced to make way for others with more savvy and brighter ideas – and of course, better organisational skills.

As much as the region deserves credit and recognition for pulling off a historic feat at the 11th hour, it also exposed the Safa CT’s shortcomings – especially on the media and marketing front.

No bones with Jones has established that Ian Pakoe (pictured), who holds the position of the head of media, could in the coming weeks be relieved of his duties.

This is mainly due to Pakoe’s inability to competently fulfill his role as the mouthpiece of the Cape footballing body.

No Bones with Jones has been reliably informed that Marwaan van Reenen from the Athlone LFA has been identified as the candidate to replace the Heideveld LFA president in this important position.

“Yes, Marwaan has been asked to take over the media matters,” a source close to the region revealed. “This could happen soon, but I know for a fact that he will not step into the position until the necessary official correspondence has been communicated.

“I know him well and know that out of respect he will not want to step on anyone’s toes,” the source added.

In the corridors of Safa CT it is said that Pakoe is “egotistic and selfish” and does not act in the best interest of the organisation.

Furthermore it is said that he is also “removed from the reality of what is happening on the ground.”

“We had a situation last week with the president’s visit to the Athlone Stadium where the national broadcaster left due to an unpleasant situation he could not handle.

“He goes against everything the region stands for and is not a good role model. On top of it all, he does not take responsibility and like to pass the buck. He is guilty of nepotism and the sooner we get rid of him the smoother the region will function,” our source said in a hard-hitting verbal onslaught on Pakoe.

When probed, Van Reenen played “dumb” and said he did not have a clue what No Bones with Jones was referring to and said he was happy with the role that he is presently playing at Safa CT. If this is so, then there could be a big surprise waiting for him!
