Luck of draw keeps champions apart

It so happened to be that the former winners of the Gavin Manuel Memorial Schools Legacy Cup were kept apart all thanks to the luck of the draw.

This came to light during the launch of the 6th edition of this annual school’s event for under 16 boys and under 18 girls held at Mondale High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Only three of the five former winners will be part of this year’s competition, namely the defending champion, Windsor High, Spine Road (2019) and Oval North (2017).

Livingstone High (2016) and Portland High (2018) are the two absentees.

Windsor will be the firm favourites to achieve a historic feat by successfully retaining their title, something that has never been done before. This is an indication of how competitive this school’s tournament is.

It will also be interesting to see how the new edition in this year’s event, the girls under-18 section, will unfold and who will have the honour of being crowned the first-ever girls’ champion.

The tournament takes place on 2 and 3 October at the Rocklands High School.
