Three more clubs affiliated to the Cape District (CDFA) have approached No Bones with Jones regarding their intent of a possible break from the LFA.
The concerned clubs reached out to our website providing their anonymity is kept as they fear victimisation and intimidation from the CDFA’s hierarchy, who have been described as a “mafia” organisation.
These club officials opened by saying that they are in a difficult situation and need to find the best solutions for their clubs going forward.
“Look we have been at the LFA for some time and as difficult as it is going to be to leave (for greener pastures) it will be in the best interest of the club,” said a source who is one of the senior members at his club.
“And we are not the only ones feeling this way. The uncertainty on what lies ahead for our LFA does not bode well, not just for us, but for all the clubs. Clubs fear that if they speak out, they will be targeted.
“But the fact of the matter is concerned parents within our club are asking questions and demanding answers on the way forward – this is something that we need to take into consideration as we also have a duty towards our members and players,” the source added.
These unsurprising developments follow in the wake of Stephanian Ottery and Garlandale FC’s departures for more stability and progression at the Cape Town Tygerberg LFA (CTTLFA).
The former left the CDFA last season already while CTTLFA’s boss Donovan Neilsen confirmed to No Bones with Jones last week that they have given their blessing to Garlandale FC to join their organisation.
According to another source, they will probably have to bite the bullet for now with the break of football matters for the festive season.
“We are fully aware that we will have to sort out our paperwork and file the request to leave the CDFA in advance and this is something which can prolong the process,” the source added.
“But people must understand, just as South Africans have lost hope and confidence in our government for obvious reasons, so, too is our patience running out with the leaders at CDFA who in my opinion do not care about their clubs and members,” the source concluded.
