Pequeno’s experience will be vital in Vasco’s push for promotion

Vasco da Gama’s conquest in the Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign was so dominant, it shows that – from both a managerial and player point of view – the team from Parow Park is ready to swim with the big fish in the ABC Motsepe League.

Coach Andrew Pequeno and his troops convincingly clinched the Third Division title in front of their home fans following a 4-1 win over Goal50 United in their final game of the season at Parow Park on Saturday afternoon.

Pequeno acknowledges the praises and well-wishes after winning yet another league title and eventually letting his hair loose or whatever is left thereof.

The astute tactician however said that it is only a job half done and that a bigger test awaits with the playoffs.

Being there twice before with Hanover Park FC means that Pequeno knows what to expect. He will be well aware of the pressure and what is required to be amongst the two finalists at the provincial playoffs.

“I have been there before a couple of times and I am not saying this to be cocky, but to emphasize it is not that easy at all,” Pequeno stated to No Bones with Jones.

“We need to be switched on. Each playoff campaign is different and brings along its own challenges. Therefore, we have to remain switched on and focussed to see it through,” Pequeno concluded.
