Rangers Turn Up Heat in Stream A after Convincing win over Santos, Ikapa and Spurs Share Spoils in 2-2 Draw

FN Rangers have piled the pressure back on Hanover Park FC in the race for top spot in Stream A following a convincing 3-0 victory over Santos FC in a Motsepe League match in Thornton on Friday evening.

A brace by former Santos-striker Darron Omaticus and another by Waylin Smidt sealed the deal for the visitors from Maitland.

Rangers’ goalkeeper Matiyash Domingos (pictured centre with Pat Hignett and Alan Hall) also displayed his heroics to keep a clean sheet and ensure that his side defensive unit stayed intact.

The win sees Rangers (14 points) open up a three-point lead at the summit, although Hanover Park FC (11) have an opportunity to respond when they face a stern away test against Young Bafana in Strand on Saturday. Rangers and “HP” are the only two unbeaten sides in stream A thus far.

Meanwhile, Cape Town Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw by Ikapa Sporting in an entertaining encounter at Solo Street, with both sides forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a hard-fought contest.

In Ocean View, Seaside Spurs FC failed to capitalise on home-ground advantage as they were held to a 1-1 draw by coastal neighbours Hout Bay United FC.
