Safa National calls for an emergency meeting

The NEC of the South Football Association (SAFA) was unable to call a NEC meeting with all its members as it more often than none ends in chaos – this was evident with the fisticuffs which broke at the Safa House in Johannesburg on Saturday, which resulted in an emergency executive meeting now being scheduled for Friday 13 March 2026 to trim down the number of members that are allowed to be present.

The Emergency Committee shall deal with all matters requiring immediate attention between the meetings of the NEC. The Emergency Committee will also decide on matters that fall under the sole competence of the NEC. It shall not be entitled to take decisions falling under the remit of
other SAFA bodies.

The Emergency Committee shall consist of the President, the Chief Executive Officer, the four
Vice-Presidents and 10 NEC members, comprising nine Provincial Chairpersons and one female member.

The decision arising from the emergency meeting shall be ratified by Congress. An interesting item on the agenda is that of the approval of the 2024/2025 Audited Annual Financial Statements.

No Bones with Jones has exhausted all avenues to source a copy of SAFA’s financials but to no avail.
