Tajoodien confident ‘Oenie’ can lead Silver Spurs to promised land

Silver Spurs has yet again opted for an ‘outside’ coach in Goodwin Lewis (pictured) to guide them to the ever-elusive Hollywoodbets Third Division title.

Spurs’ stalwart and former coach Victor Tajoodien confirmed this news following their executive meeting on Thursday evening.

“I’m confident that Oenie can bring success to the club,” Tajoodien told No Bones with Jones.
“He knows the league very well and he’s been around for a while. He coached higher up in the Second Division as well and his ability to attract talent is also another positive,” Tajoodien added.

Lewis’ appointment might surprise many as there were possible expectations that Spurs might go local, within the club to appoint a coach for the new season – but it wasn’t to be. Tajoodien explained what led the club to appoint ‘Ornie’ as Lewis is affectionately known, as their new coach.

“I had a mandate to shortlist three candidates, which I did,” Tajoodien said. “Out of the three, Oenie was the best candidate. He fits the vision of the club. Our Executive sat down and the decision was taken in agreement with the Chairman,” Tajoodien added.

Only time will tell whether this move will pan out to be a masterstroke or not for Spurs – one of the longest serving clubs in the Third Division.
