Tensions ran high after Sea Point Swifts (Hope FC) edged out Santos by 2-1 in an exciting ABC Motsepe League Second Division fixture at the Thornton Sport Complex on Wednesday evening – which put a damper on proceedings to say the least.
From what was witnessed by No Bones with Jones after the match is the following… Santos chairman, Goolam Allie has asked one of Hope supporters to refrain from beating the drum as there is a mosque in the vicinity.
“As the supporter left the spectator area, he continued with the beating of the drum which prompted a reaction from Allie who ran after him and struck him on the side of the head.
Now, this probably wasn’t Allie’s finest hour – as what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong – and from where No Bones with Jones stood, it could have been avoided.
It’s important for public figures to set a proper example especially at an event like a football match where many families gather with their children.
