After six seasons in the Third Division and LFA ranks, Ameen Awaldien has finally decided to test his goal-scoring ability on a higher level.
No Bones with Jones can reveal that the 29-year-old striker from Silver Spurs – who was last on the books of Hazendal United – will put pen to paper at Hanover Park FC in the upcoming days to join the ABC Motsepe-outfit
While Hanover Park’s owner Rieduwaan Anthony will be doing cartwheels with this revelation, Santos will be licking their wounds – and it should be no mystery as to why Awaldien has chosen the Brasse Vannie Park above the People’s Team.
Anthony has been hounding the goal poacher for a while now to make the move to Hanover Park to sharpen their attack, while Santos was hoping that the goal poacher would follow in the footsteps of his former Spurs teammate Rabian Beukes, who also made the step-up to Santos in the Second Division.
Our website understands that Awaldien is currently on a break after his long season with Hazendal who unfortunately fell short again in the Third Division playoff campaign after edging out South End for the league title at the Rygate LFA.
It will be interesting to see how quickly Awaldien will settle into more competitive and structured competition, and it will even be more interesting to see what role his new coach Sam Anthony has for him.
Meanwhile Safa Wetsern Cape is the only region that has not yet released the fixtures for the season whereas other provinces are already in full swing.
The WC soccer boss Tankiso Modipa indicated that the league’s fixtures will be released soonest.
“The fixtures had been released to the clubs,” was Modipa’s communication to our website. “They still need to check if everything is fine thereafter a final draft of fixtures will be sent.”
