Rygate LFA president Abdul Tajoodien has set the record straight regarding Hazendal United’s controversial striker Ameen Awaldien.
No Bones with Jones has been informed that the 30-year-old striker could join up with the Third Division newcomer Young Pirates from Heideveld – but only once he’s served out his punishment.
Awaldien has been making waves for all the wrong reasons, which saw him also miss out on the Third Division playoffs, where Hazendal fell short for a fifth consecutive season.
Many felt that if the 30-year-old Awaldien had been part of the squad, the script would have been different for the team from Bokmakierie.
Tajoodien explained to No Bones with Jones: “According to knowledge, he is suspended for six weeks by an independent committee for failing to adhere to a previous matter where he was also reprimanded.
“Furthermore, his club also held a disciplinary hearing with him, whereby they also placed a sanction on him. And this was in the first instance of his transgression. When he transgressed the first time, his club held a disciplinary inquiry and he was sanctioned.
Hazendal also requested that the LFA respect their process and not intervene. But then he transgressed again by continuing to bring the LFA into disrepute – and then the LFA charged him. And guess what? He failed to appear for the disciplinary enquiry.
Tajoodien further added that he hopes that sanity will prevail with Awaldien going forward.
“Look, I’m no psychologist, but I hope that he’s learnt from defaming or bringing LFA’s into disrepute and people’s reputations because he speaks about people being corrupt without having the necessary proof.
“I think it’s by time that people realize the impact of this type of behaviour on other people’s lives, as they have families. Social media is rife, and everyone reads the stuff on social platforms. How does it affect the families, how does it affect the kids as it becomes a topic in schools, you know,” Tajoodien concluded.
