Clarewood JPM FC has issued a “hands off” warning for their head coach Dylan Dean after rumours emerged that he could link up with his former Cape Town Spurs club.
Dean, who had various coaching jobs at teams like Cape Town All Stars and Young Bafana, is no stranger to Ikamva.
The 49-year-old well-travelled Dean spent six months in Parow with Spurs between April 2021 and October 2021 before the coach was axed in October 2021.
Dean – who holds a UEFA A, Caf A, and a Safa Pro licence – also had a six-month stint with Bafana in Strand before he was lured away by Clarewood’s owner Justin Paulsen to replace his predecessor Ashraf Calvert.
Dean, who is currently preparing his squad for the upcoming pre-season with Clarewood, confirmed the news to our website: “I am truly happy at the club and satisfied with the progress we’ve made thus far.”
Meanwhile a Clarewood official who has asked not to remain anonymous also confirmed that Dean is staying put.
“I spoke to the coach regarding his plans for the team and he is 100% committed to the project,” said the source.
“So, to answer your question, no, he is not going anywhere. Not to (CT) Spurs or any other club. In fact, he will be in charge for our first friendly on Saturday at our base in Wynberg. “We have big plans in the pipeline and Dylan will be instrumental in executing these plans,” the source concluded.
Despite Clarewood’s confidence in Dean staying at the club, history has shown and proven that most things in football should be taken with a pinch of salt . . . because in this game, money talks!
