August buoyed by Inter City challenge and can’t wait to hit the ground running

Inter City FC’s newly appointed head coach, Bradley August (pictured centre), says he is buoyed about his new challenge and cannot wait to hit the ground running!

August was recently appointed to succeed Theo Hempe at the ABC Motsepe League that is fairly new to the local football landscape and still trying to find its feet.

“Things will also be a bit different as one week we are going to train in the morning which allows us to have more time together as a unit, you know,” August stated to No Bones with Jones. “So, there will be some changes with our training schedule and they will have to get used to it.

“But I’m looking forward to the challenge and cannot wait to start, and I guess so does everyone at the club. We have to be competitive and there’s no way… We will have to do better than last season” August added.

The 47-year-old August, who will be assisted by his righthand man, Peter Kirsten (pictured left), has also revealed another reason why he is feeling so confident ahead of his new venture.

“I know most of the players who are from Crystal Palace where I coached before,” August pointed out. “I feel very comfortable with them, you know. Like I said to the group, if everybody feels the same way, and we work together, then we can,” August concluded.

Another “conducive” aspect going for August is the fact that he’s pairing up with former colleagues like Goodwin Lewis and Ashlam Petersen (pictured right).

August, a former Bafana Bafana attacker, spent last season on the books of Santos as their head coach where he tried to get the People’s Team back to its glory days.

In August’s defence, their season was disrupted and delayed following a legal battle with the Mother body, Safa Western Cape, who had initially expelled the People’s Team from the leaguat the beginning of last season.

Santos eventually won the case and August and his troops had to play catch up which eventually took its toll on both the players and the coaching staff.
