Victor Tajoodien, Chairman of Silver Spurs has confirmed that they are in the market for a new coach.
Spurs raised eyebrows last season when they appointed their former striker Cheslyn ‘Giggs’ Tajoodien as head coach despite Giggs lacking the relevant coaching experience at that level and badges.
Needless to say, this move backfired and the Silvertown-outfit, who started last season like a house on fire, fell short yet again losing out to arch-rivals Junction Rovers who eventually won promotion to the second Division.
Spurs is also the longest serving club in the Third Division structure and cannot win that elusive league and promotion – something that Victor is all too aware of.
It is also understandable that the Spurs management will use a more cautious and sensible approach when appointing a new coach this time round.
“We are in discussion with various coaches and do not want to mention names as they might be hijacked,” Victor said jokingly.
“We had some experiments last season and although it did not work out as planned, it was not all doom and gloom as there were positives as well,” Victor cloncluded.
Spurs, who ended second last season, will again have to fend off competition from its competitors that are after the services of their goal poacher Armien Awaldien.
