Yaknocka has to create magic in new kit

Yanocka Soccer Club chairman Shane Joemath jokingly admitted that the pressure is now on them to produce the magic on the playing field.

Joemath’s comments follow after the newbie in the Mitchells Plain Football District (MPFD) recently received a full (senior) kit for its debut season with the compliments of George Dearney’s Magic Ladies Football Club.

It is fair to say that Joemath’s club – which was established recently – is still finding its feet, on and off the field.

The club currently has under 8 to under 19 divisions as well as two senior outfits in a Super League and a First team.

Their home base is situated at the Legacy Fields at the Rocklands High School, previously occupied by Bayhill United who was subsequently kicked out for not paying their rent for months.

According to Joemath this generous donation from Magic Ladies will definitely go a long way.

The former Sea Point Swift midfielder admitted that sponsorships these days are “hard to come by.”

“Therefore, we are very grateful for the donation,” Joemath admitted.

“Look, at the end of the day, I’m just trying my best for the kids, the players and the club itself. Thanks to our fantastic staff we are progressing.

“You know how cruel football can be and let’s be fair that in today’s difficult economic climate, one cannot blame clubs and other entities when they are not forthcoming with the necessary support.

“But this act of kindness shows that there are still good-hearted people out there. Once again, I need to thank George and his club for this gesture. May they prosper and reach their objectives,” Joemath added.

Dearnaley on the other hand has played down his generosity saying it is important not to forget why we play and love the game.

“It’s about building relationships and creating a platform for young talent to prosper irrespective if it is your opposition or your enemy for that matter,” the former Bafana Bafana striker humbly stated.

“We are all servants of the game and I’m only glad to assist where I can,” Dearnaley concluded.
