FC Hout Bay coach Tom Tobi is in the firing line.
No Bones with Jones has a letter issued to Tobi by the club’s secretary Lionel Louw whereby he is placed under suspension for two weeks due to his “recent poor form of results.”
The letter reads: “You are to be present at all training and match days to merely observe but cannot be actively involved in any training drills nor have any influence on the selection for match days. Your suspension ends 30 January 2024.”
This means that Tobi, who hails from Atlantis, will miss out on the ‘derby’ against his former Jomos’ outfit which is scheduled for Saturday, January 27th.
Our website also understands that Tobi – who was appointed before the start of the new Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign following the departure of Peter Kirsten to Premier United – is to appear at a meeting on Tuesday 16 January at the club’s headquarters in Hout Bay.
The former Jomos Power, Aberdeen, Robinvale, Glendene FC and Sunningdale coach could not be reached for comment.
FC Hout Bay is currently in 14th position with 10 points after 10 matches. Some would say that it is far too early for the alarm bells and such drastic measures but perhaps this is a ploy to replace Tobi permanently.
It would be a real shame if Tobi’s suspension is not lifted before then or even worse, he gets axed as he has recruited and brought some players along with him and was promised to be back to face his former club.
