Departures not a set-back for Ikapa, sings ‘Pietie Soprano’

Ikapa Sporting chairman Shaun Petersen says the recent departures of four of his new recruits is anything but a “setback.”

Petersen’s reaction follows after players like Adeeb Triegaardt, Zubair Fredericks, Rameez Jacobs and Tashwil Nicholson all went back to Junction Rovers after just three games.

Despite this player exodus, Petersen, known as ‘Pietie Soprano,’ said he is rather optimistic because there are bigger things in the pipeline.

“In my opinion this is a set-up for our comeback,” Petersen told No Bones with Jones.

” Top replacements are coming and I don’t think that the players who left are a setback for us. Watch this space,” the Ikapa boss added.

Ikapa resumed their ABC Motsepe League campaign with a 1-0 win against Ukhanya United (Eagle Performance Academy) on Saturday to move up to third position in the Second Division’s stream A, level on points with Santos who lost 0-3 to log leaders and favourites to win the stream, FN Rangers.
