Home is where the heart is.
And there is no truer example of this as with the return of Adeeb Triegaardt to his beloved Junction Rovers.
Triegaardt along with Zubair Fredericks, Rameez Jacobs and Tashwil Nicholson all returned to the ABC Motsepe League debutants following a brief stint with Ikapa Sporting.
Triegaardt capped his return to Heideveld with a stellar performance where the talismanic defender assisted with two of Junction’s four goals after they humbled the star-studded Hanover Park FC by 4-1 to collect their second victory of the season after five matches.
It is safe to say that coach Chrissando de Weber’s newbies are well on course to achieve their objective which is to retain their status for next season albeit that they have 11 matches left and that anything can still happen.
And with the return of Pro, as Triegaardt is affectionately known, and the trio of Fredericks, Jacobs and Nicholson, they might still spring a few more upsets and surprises.
Triegaardt – who played a pivotal role when he captained Junction to promotion to the Second Division last season – admitted that his brief stint with Ikapa was not all doom and gloom as he has grown and learnt a lot as a player.
“I was only there for three months but there is high energy and tempo which I had gotten accustomed to and this is what I carried over with me to help Junction achieve their goals,” Triegaartd told No Bones with Jones.
“But I’m really happy to be back home now as this is where I belong, you know. The feeling of being home is priceless and there is not much I can add to this,” Triegaardt stated.
Junction host the struggling Ukhanya United (Eagles Performanceb Academy) on Friday evening at the Heideveld Sportsfield and expectations are that they will put them to the sword as well to further boost their chances of retaining their status – they might even be in a position to challenge to win the stream – who knows as football is a funny old game.
