It’s Crystal clear – ‘King Brad’ will not allow Vasco to rule the ‘Palace

Crystal Palace’s coach Bradley August says they will try everything in their power to maintain the pressure on the Hollywoodbets Third Division log leaders, Vasco da Gama.

August’s comments follow Palace’s hard-fought away victory in a nine-goal thriller against Seaside Spurs in Ocean View on Friday evening.

Their 5-4 victory is so one of the highest scorelines recorded in the cut-throat Third Division and August said his player’s determination and fighting spirit was pleasing to witness.

Palace, who led 1-0 at halftime, trebled their advantage with with two quick goals early in the second which appeared to have wrapped up the tie.

However, lapses in concentration, especially from Palace’s goalkeeper, allowed the home side to claw their way back making it a nervy end to the latter part of the second half.

To the credit of the visitors, they kept Seaside at bay to secure a well deserved victory thanks to a Gavin Hammers hatrick in the end.

“We kept plugging away until the last minute,” August said to No Bones with Jones. “We made life difficult for ourselves at times with undisciplined defending but we also produced the goods on attack and to come away with three points against a well-organized side like Seaside is satisfying.”

This victory sees Palace break the 50-point mark and jump into second place above Cape Town City (49) who host Silver Spurs at Malta Park on Sunday afternoon.

More importantly, Palace closed the gap to four points on the pacesetters Vasco, who travel to Wanderers FC on Saturday afternoon.

With only a handful of games to go August is still of the opinion that Vasco should be the team to win the league.

“They are showing no signs of slowing down hey and one needs to compliment coach Andrew Pequeno for the good work his doing with his side,” August further added.

“But all we can do is to control what we can and see what happens come the end of the season. I must add that I am very proud of my boys and it was a challenging time when we assembled the squad but the boys have shown hunger and desire,” the former Bafana Bafana played concluded
