Safa, it will be great if you communicate – when you set a date, don’t be late!

Safa Cape Town’s communication to its affiliates and the broader football public leaves a lot to be desired.

For the record, this is under no circumstances an attack on the Mother body, but a word of advice to the organization that it should stick to its word, especially when official communication on matters regarding football competitions and other related matters gets disseminated to the broader football community.

The region sent out two notices regarding the list of criteria for the hosting of the Engen KO challenge and supplied two dates.

The first date for the close of application, 24 April at 16:00 was sent by Safa followed by 26 April which was set out for the announcement of the host venue.

No Bones with Jones reported last week that the sponsor will have the final say regarding the host venue according to the region’s president, Bennett Bailey.

Our website understands that venues such as Rooikrans, Rygate LFA’s Johnston Road, Langa LFA and surprisingly the Robinvale Sports Complex in Atlantis all officially tendered.

Today (Friday 3 May) is exactly a week after the announcement should have been forthcoming, but there is still no official word issued by the region or sponsor regarding the host venue.

But as No Bones with Jones stated last week already it is a formality that the Erica Park Sports Complex (pictured) in Belhar will play host to this year’s Engen KO Challenge for under-18 boys and Ladies.

Stellenbosch FC will have to be at its very best to defend the title won last\ year after beating Cape Town Spurs on penalties.
