The role of the dice could not have been kinder for FN Rangers coach Arreshaat Daniels.
This after Daniels’ Rangers outfit finally conquered the Western Cape’s ABC Motsepe League following a convincing 2-0 win over Antalyaspor at the William Herbert Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The fact of the matter is that even though this might be unchartered territory for Daniels and his troops, they don’t enter the playoffs too blindly thanks to their ‘inside man’ in counterpart and friend Brandon
Truter, who was appointed as head coach of Upington City a couple of weeks back.
He will undoubtedly be one of the high-profile figures at the playoff which will take place at the Mxolisi Dicky Stadium from the first week in June and be an advantage for the Cape Town-based outfit.
‘Brakkies’ as Truter is known, is also a fantastic human being and open to sharing info with even his biggest rival and it is expected that the Cape Town-born Truter would have and probably will shed some more light on Rangers’ quest as the man on the scene.
“Yes, of course, ” Truter told No Bones with Jones. “I arranged for him to come down a week earlier and train this side to acclimatise quicker and to settle in,” Truter added.
Needless to say, Daniels will be the first to point out that their league success will only get relevance if they manage to win the Motsepe Championship National First Division playoffs.
“I will have to speak to a few coaches on that side to determine if there is really a difference locally or nationally,” Daniels told No Bones with Jones.
“Of the nine provinces we all are fighting for two spots. But we need to work for that as it is not going to be gifted to you. We need to believe in our process and our journey. And whatever is going to happen in Upington we are going to represent the Western Cape, our club and our LFA to the best of our ability,” Daniels concluded.
