UCT Ladies head coach Ahmad Parker is making “slow and steady” progress with his recovery and getting stronger by the day – alhamdulillah (All praise to God).
Parker confirmed the positive and welcoming news to our website following an accident also involving his assistant and goalkeeper coach, Shaquille Williams and Mark Kapman respectively en route to the playoffs in Knysna
“The road to recovery is a slow and steady one,” Parker told No Bones with Jones. “But we are progressing well, Alghamdulillah.”With the support of the people around me, the progress is solid. Had my most recent and hopefully last operation yesterday. So, we carry on,” Parker added.
Meanwhile, there has been much speculation on whether or not his UCT Ladies will be competing in the HollydoodBets Super League after speculation that their status could be up for sale should no investor or sponsor come on board.
That said, another desire exists to go to all lengths to ensure that everything is put in place in order for them to represent the province with pride and also play a support role for UWC Ladies as there are only two Cape Town sides to compete in the women’s pro league.
By the looks of things the interim coach Kamaal Sait could oversee matters for longer than initially anticipated due to Parker’s situation.
Needless to say, Sait will have to start to recruit some quality and more experienced players to blend in with what he currently has in order to compete and save their status in their debut season. It also cannot be easy for Sait with all the uncertainty looming – so watch this space.
Fingers crossed that all goes well for Sait and Co. in order to witness a historic first ever varsity derby in the pro league which should be a great advert for women’s football in the Mother City.
