Safa Cape Town’s beleaguered treasurer Wayne Weitz (pictured) wishes for nothing more than fairness and justice.
But it is evident that it is not a priority for Safa CT and they couldn’t care less judging by the slow pace and manner in which the Safa CT elected official is being treated in this case – which is utterly sad.
The Cape’s football Mother Body has a Regional Executive Committee (REC) meeting on Wednesday (20 November) and for the sake of finality, one can only hope that the Weitz-saga will be at the forefront of the agenda.
The mere fact that the matter is now approaching the 100-day mark since Weitz was placed under “precautionary suspension” pertaining to his alleged governance matters and failure to follow protocol.
The REC and General Council subsequently agreed to an extension of 30 days for further investigation and this was granted.
The funny part is that with all the time requested to ‘investigate’ the matter, nothing concrete was found that indicates that Weitz committed a transgression. It is now six months later and there is also no mention from the region’s side to conclude this matter.
Again, there were no charges and no DC hearing but Weitz was allowed to continue in his capacity as president of Metropolitan LFA – to date it is still unclear what the offense was for his suspension.
So, this begs the question, is this not a clear violation of a general council decision?
Our website reached out to Safa CT’s General Secretary Reyaad Joseph on the matter, to which he replied: “I unfortunately have no comment sir,” Joseph added.
