Safa CT’s DC to determine Weitz’s fate, Congress reveals

All is probably not lost for Safa Cape Town’s beleaguered Treasurer Wayne Weitz (pictured).

The Metropolitan LFA president will know his fate when he appears before the region’s Disciplinary Committee in the near future where Weitz will get a “free and fair hearing.”

This was revealed during Safa CT’s annual Congress held on Sunday and lasted for six hours.

“The suspension of the Region’s Treasurer, Mr. Wayne Weitz after receiving a thorough final review report in the governance-related matters, it was agreed that only the Disciplinary Committee has the authority to remove Mr. Weitz as Treasurer and provide him with a free and fair hearing” the second topic of Safa Cape Town’s press release reads.

“Consequently, the matter has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee for determination, with Mr. Weitz facing charges to be determined. His precautionary suspension until the conclusion of the Disciplinary process remains.”

Despite confirming their stance on the Weitz-issue, “financial matters were also high on the agenda, with significant debate around the proposed debt write-off. After comprehensive discussion, it was resolved that a detailed report will be presented within 30 days. The report will outline the specifics of the bad debt and provide a clear motivation for whether the write-off should be approved or rejected,” another paragraph of the press release stated.

Another welcoming development was when the press release further stated a “well-deserved nomination of veteran administrator Mr. Abdullah Alexander for life membership. A longstanding member of the Rygate LFA, Mr. Alexander has served the region in various capacities since the 1960s. His tireless contributions and dedication to the sport were recognized, and he was unanimously elected as a life member of SAFA Cape Town,” the statement concluded.
