”God does not sleep” – comment after Hazendal and Spurs match postponed due to rain

As luck would have it – all thanks to inclement weather, mind you – it has emerged that Hazendal United’s Ameen Awaldien will indeed get to feature against his former Silver Spurs club in the Coke Cup after all.

This comes after Rygate LFA confirmed on Sunday morning that all Coke Cup games are “called off due to wet and unsafe pitches,” which means that Hazendal and Spurs will have to replay this cup fixture at a later date which in hindsight is music to the ears of the team from Bokmakierie.

In essence Zlatan, as Awaldien is called, will still get to feature against his former club as his suspension was until Sunday (June 22). Furthermore, Awaldien’s proposed disciplinary hearing has also been scrapped subsequently.

Rygate president Abdul Tajoodien was brief on the latest developments on the issue. “The matter is buried and the case closed.”

Awaldien was suspended on Friday (June 13) after allegedly bringing the LFA into disrepute following comments he made on social media.

When No Bones with Jones contacted Awaldien on his exoneration he refused to comment on the matter.

“God does not sleep,” was Awaldien’s reaction to our website.

One can only hope that Hazendal have learnt valuable lessons during this exercise – especially after Hazendal’s chairman Begg had to personally drop off five or so members of his club to apologize to the Rygate president and his brother Victor, for cursing and chastising the brothers with profanities a day before.
